What is the Decent Homes Standard?
This is a government target to ensure that all social housing meets set standards of decency by 2010.
In order to achieve this standard and deliver all the other improvements
that are needed, Islington Council set up ‘Homes for Islington’
in April 2004 and applied to the government for £157m of extra
money up to 2010 to deliver an improvement programme of over £500m
to 2010.
What is a decent Home
Your home needs to meet all four of the decent homes criteria:
If you think that your home doesn't meet one of the criteria and that works are required to bring your home up to the Decent Homes standard then please see our work programme to check what works are planned. Information can be found on the Getting it right…ONLINE pages on this site.
