Housing Fraud

What it is

Housing fraud involves any of the following:

• subletting of council property where the tenant is not using their accommodation as their only and principal home and is living somewhere else
• where housing has been obtained by deception
• fraudulent applications for housing, right to buy, mutual exchanges, assignments of tenancies and successions of tenancies

Housing fraud cheats other people of the chance to have a home that they need.

Housing fraud is investigated by Homes for Islington’s Housing Investigations Team.
