Grounds Maintenance

Greenspace is the Grounds Maintenance Contractor for Homes for Islington.

What Greenspace does?

Litter Removal - All beds will be cleared of litter on a fortnightly basis between 1st April and 30th September. From 1st October to 31st March, beds will be cleared once a month.

Grass Cutting - Grass should be maintained between 20mm and 80mm at all times. During periods of inclement or dry weather, grass cutting can be suspended. Bulb areas will be cut down from the 1st June. Summer meadow areas receive one cut a year in September to a height of 50mm and all cuttings removed. Any grass clippings on the paths should be swept or blown back onto the grass.

Shrub Maintenance - Shrubs and hedges to be pruned when necessary to maintain them within the site boundary.

Trees - Tree pits to be kept clear of established weeds between 1st April and 30th September. All epicormic growth (tree suckers) to be removed to a height of 3m. Low branches overhanging hardstanding areas lifted to 2m. Expert arboriculture (tree) works are carried out by the Greenspace Tree Section and are not part of the Grounds Maintenance contract.

Leaves - Greenspace removes leaves from beds only. The caretaking staff clears grass areas and paths.

Hard Standing Areas should be kept weed free between 1st April and 30th September.
