Housing Area Changes at Homes for Islington

Information about housing area changes for residents in properties managed by Homes for Islington.

Residents in some wards have been transferred to a different area office. If you are affected you will already have received a letter from Homes for Islington.

New extended opening times

All offices will be open Mon-Fri 9am-4.45pm

Extended hours are being piloted at the following offices as follows:

Upper Street: Wednesday 5pm-7pm; Saturday 9am-12 noon

Why have the areas been changed

• Residents now choose other ways of accessing services and fewer are visiting their area office.
• Homes for Islington serves fewer residents than previously because many properties are now managed by Partners for Improvement in Islington. As a result the council provides less money for services. HFI believes it is important to maintain frontline services, such as caretaking.
• Reducing the number of offices to 4 will reduce overheads and ensure money is not taken away from other services.
• Residents will benefit from having a more efficient distribution of staff serving them across the four new areas.

The changes follow consultation with residents carried out in 2006.
