If you are going on holiday or leaving your home unoccupied for any length or time:

• Make sure your home is secure and your milk, papers and other deliveries are cancelled.
• Arrange for a friend or relative to keep an eye on your home and hold a key in case of emergencies.
• Remember to turn off the gas, water and electricity supplies.
• Tell you Area Housing Office if you are going away for more than a month and remember you must apply for permission if you are going to be away for more than three months (See Leaflet 2 – Your Tenancy).
