Press Release

Homes for Islington protects the Community from Antisocial Behaviour.....continued

January 2008

David Avahondo was sentenced on 19 December 2007 to two weeks in Pentonville Prison for continually breaching the injunction order against him.

On the 20th July HFI successfully obtained an injunction with power of arrest against Mr. Avahondo who had been rough sleeping on the Bemerton Estate.

The injunction restricts Mr Avahondo from threatening, verbally abusing or assaulting residents or children within the borough of Islington. In addition he is forbidden to enter the Bemerton Estate N1.

If Mr Avahondo fails to comply with the above restrictions, he will be arrested again and could be imprisoned again. This injunction and power of arrest shall remain in force until the 30 June 2008 at 4:00 PM unless it has been revoked by further orders of the court.

HFI and the Police request that if any resident identify Mr Avahondo as being in breach of this injunction they immediately report the incident to either their local HFI ASB Officer or the Police.

Doug Goldring, HFI’s Director of Operations agreed that this court action demonstrates that “We are taking seriously our commitment to working with partners and police in addressing antisocial behaviour.”
