Invitation to Islington Parks Community Conference
Saturday 1 November 2008
The conference has grown out of our annual Friends of Parks Conference. The theme this year is engaging the wider community in parks, and specifically, events in parks, and is therefore open to any groups or individuals with an interest in putting on community events in our parks. The venue is accessible and we will have induction loop and BSL interpretation.

October 2008

Holland Walk Community Fun Day, St Johns Community Centre
Thursday 2nd October from 4pm till 7pm
Come along and enjoy an informative and fun-packed afternoon with stalls and activities that will bring the community together. Activities include a free barbecue, bouncy castle, face painting and raffle, to name just a few.. Residents will also be able to speak to staff about any housing issues they may have. The Mayor will be attending to engage with the local residents too!

The Second Annual Leaseholder Information Fair
Thursday 16th October 2008, from 2pm until 8pm
Venue: London Metropolitan University, 166-220 Holloway Road
Following the success of last year this gives an opportunity for all leaseholders to speak to HFI and Partners For Improvement in Islington, plus other partners include CHAS, the independant leasehold advice service.

Organised by Residents of Highbury Quadrant and sponsored by Homes for Islington and Islington Council.

Islington council’s 2008 Black History Month celebration

Saturday 27th September 2008, 1pm-6pm
Sponsored by The Wellcome Trust and EDF, here is some information on events and activities marking the 21st year, alongside and an invitation to the launch event: Family Science Fun-Day Conference on 27th September 2008 (1pm-6pm).

HFI Kier Islington Annual Fun Day - 3rd August, Brewery Road
The HFI Kier Islington annual fun day will take place on 3rd August. A steel band will provide music for you to dance to with lots of activities including bouncy castles, bucking broncos and inflatable bungee jumping. HFI and Kier Islington will be on hand to give out information about the services on offer to Islington residents. Over 3,000 residents enjoyed the free community event last year.

Community Fun Day for Residents at Central Street Area Housing Office - Thursday 28 August - 2pm-6pm
The car park at Central Street Area Housing Office will be converted into a fun place to be. Local residents are invited to come along and enjoy music and food. A number of local organisations, will provide lots of information around youth provision activities and services across the area. Staff from HFI will meet residents to provide guidance and information on the services available.

HFI Summer Fair 2008 - Celebrating Decent Homes                    Friday 29th August, St Paul's Open Space, New River Green Estate, N1 2PY, 11am-3pm.
HFI in partnership with our contractors invite residents to a FREE summer fair. Come along and celebrate the improvements being made to your homes and meet the contractors who'll be doing the work.

Finsbury Park Youth Forum "Make Your Mark" - 27th July
Wray Crescent Open Space, Turle Road, N4

As the school year draws to an end, the summer holidays are just beginning! The Finsbury Park Youth Forum in partnership with Listen up are hosting an amazing fun day called MAKE YOUR MARK, in Wray Cresent Open Space on the 27th of July 2008, which is NOT to be MISSED! It will run from 1-6pm and feature a number of attractions such as: inflatable football, BBQ, music, bouncy castle, face painting, circus workshop, raffle, information stalls run by local organisations and many others. The event is a fun day for families and youth to bring unity and integration between the young and old. Also, it’s a chance to portray young people in a positive light despite bad press, so tell a friend to tell a friend its time to MAKE YOUR MARK!

Finsbury Park Community Open Day - Thursday 5 June, 3pm-7pm
Residents are invited to come to the Andover Community Centre, Corker Walk, Andover Estate on Thursday 5 June.

Six Acres Estate Consultation Day - Saturday 7 June, 11am-3pm
Representativs from HFI, Community Housing Group and John Laing Partnership (the contractor) will be present on the Andover Estate (in a marquee in front of Fyfield and Dellafield) to answer questions and show plan of the redevelopment proposals.  Light refeshments will be available.

Islington’s Affordable Home Ownership Show - 21st June 2008     (pdf 3Mb)
You are invited to Islington’s Affordable Home Ownership Show, which is taking place on Saturday 21 June from 10.30am to 4pm at the Emirates Stadium. The event has been organised by Islington Council, and Homes for Islington will have a stall to promote Social HomeBuy, which is a new shared ownership scheme for council tenants. Summer Bar-B-Q & Fun Day - Thursday 26 June, 2pm-6pm

Murphys are sponsoring a summer Bar-B-Q and fun day for the residents of St Lukes Estate, on St Lukes Estate on Thursday 26 June. The Mayor will open at 2pm and the event will finish at 6pm. Activities will include Shoreditch fire birgade and bouncy castle.

Choice event on Sunday 29 June - 12pm to 6pm, Emirates Stadium (pdf file 382Kb)
HFI are sponsoring a stand at this event at the Emirates. It is a perfect opportunity to demonstrate all of the highly successful innovative Football and evolving on-estate partnership work being undertaken with estate-based young people by HFI, Arsenal Football Club, National Positive Futures, bona-fide estate representatives, parents, residents and other sponsors. Grand Launch of "The Head" - Friday 30th May 2008
The children and staff of King Henry's Walk Adventure Playground invite you to the Grand Launch of "The Head", the interactive play scuplture created by world-famous Nigeria Sculptor Emmanuel Jegede.

Soundtracks & Write Now and Then - Saturday 23 February 2008, 7pm at LSO St Lukes, 161 Old Street, London, EC1V 9NG
In partnership with Children’s’ Services and other agencies HFI funded a combined arts event created by young people working with professional artists.

The Soundtracks project will present and evening of music - working with professionals young people will aim to capture the sound of young people’s lives and experiences living in Islington.

This session will be followed by Write Now and Then project - working with professionals young people explored and learned about the literary heritage of Islington, they have created their own original writing, animation, film and photography.
