New Council Housing for Islington

Neptune House Garages

There are plans to redevelop the Neptune House garage site by building five new homes. This will be developed under phase two of Homes for Islington's new build programme and the plans are to provide four three-storey, four-bed family houses and one three-storey, three-bed family house.

HFI will be putting in the planning application in August 2008 and will continue to consult with the residents in the local area. Once the planning application has been put in, Islington Council will carry out the statutory planning consultation before the application goes to committee later this year. In the meantime, the garages will be demolished and the area secured to make way for the new development.

HFI will then take steps to procure a constructor for the scheme who will work closely with HFI to build up the scheme before the proposed start on site date, which is yet to be agreed. Once on site, work is envisaged to take approximately 40 weeks with the intention of renting the new properties by summer 2010.

Further information will be provided in HFI News, Islington Now, newsletters and online. If you have any questions on this, you are welcome to contact Mike Rees, 020 7527 3969, at Highbury House, 4 Highbury Crescent, London N5 1RN or email mike.rees@homesforislington.org.uk
