There are plans to redevelop the site currently occupied by the Lewis Carroll temporary library by building new homes. The intention is that this site is to be developed under phase three of Homes for Islington's new build programme.
HFI has procured an external architect, Brady Mallalieu to carry out the design work on the scheme and will be aiming to put in the planning application in Autumn 2008. Before then, initial plans will be drawn up in order to consult with residents in the local area. Once the planning application has been put in, Islington Council will carry out the statutory planning consultation before the application goes to committee for its decision.
HFI will then take steps to procure a constructor for the scheme who will work closely with HFI to build up the scheme before the proposed start on site date, which is yet to be agreed. Once on site, the intention is to rent the new properties by Winter 2010/11.
Further information will be provided in HFI News, Islington Now, newsletters and online. If you have any questions on this, you are welcome to contact Mike Rees, 020 7527 3969, at Highbury House, 4 Highbury Crescent, London N5 1RN or email mike.rees@homesforislington.org.uk
