History
The Islington Leaseholder Forum (ILF) was a consultative body that was established to promote leaseholder/freeholder interests and to provide a collective voice for leaseholders in all aspects of the housing service. The ILF increased involvement and participation amongst the nearly 10,000 leaseholders of Islington Council and the means by which residents could be involved in decision making in housing policy and practice.
Now
The ILF wanted to increase their role, and create a new elected voice for leaseholders. This new organisation is called the Islington Leaseholder Association (ILA). In November 2007 elections for the directors were held for the ILA, and the ILF was disbanded. There are 15 directors in total, three directors for each of the four Homes for Islington housing areas, and three directors for properties managed by Partners for Improvement in Islington.
The remit of the ILA includes consultation on policy issues relating to day-to-day service charges, billing for major works, information on leaseholder accounts and housing management issues affecting leaseholders. The ILA meet with Homes for Islington six times a year. For more information about the ILA, including dates of public meetings, visit their website.
