Broadway

Broadway is a charity which is committed to, and experienced in, supporting and keeping people in their homes. They manage a dedicated money advice and welfare rights team as well as a number of other services, including outreach, hostels, floating support and work and learning. They have a wealth of experience in working proactively with people who struggle to maintain their home for whatever reason.

Homes for Islington (HFI) have entered into partnership with Broadway to provide support to leaseholders and freeholders who are having difficulty paying their service charge. Broadway will provide expert support, advice and advocacy for clients, explore ways to maximise their income, reduce their ‘priority’ debts, negotiate ‘non priority’ debts, arrange direct payments and promote financial literacy.

All clients referred to Broadway will have a designated advisor who will, with the client, produce a realistic and sustainable financial statement. Advisors will also assist in clients maintaining payments by advising them on inter connected matters, for example, how to make savings on fuel (USwitch); alternative banking and tax rebates and ensuring they are receiving all benefits they are entitled to. Charity applications are also explored.

A full casework service is offered with advisors corresponding with creditors and initial calls being made at the first interview if appropriate. Self help is encouraged with clients who are capable of undertaking the work, supported by the advisor.  Broadway use Language Line if a face to face interpreter cannot be organised.
