The local area housing office is responsible for formally recognising and liaising with tenant and resident associations, working with tenant management organisations and servicing the area-housing panel. Area housing staff will also take the lead role in respect of local tenant participation initiatives. Your first point of contact should be the person listed below in your housing area.

Tenant Management Team
The Tenant Management Team commissions new Tenant Tanagement Organisations (TMOs), clients and monitors established TMOs (including co-ops) and works with tenant groups interested in becoming TMOs.

Federation of Islington Tenants’ Associations
The Federation of Islington Tenants Associations (FITA, pronounced 'fighter') is an independent, borough-wide organisation run by council tenants through their TRAs. FITA’s aims are to unify and strengthen the tenant movement in Islington and to promote and represent their interests to central and local government, other organisations in London and nationally. Established TRAs may affiliate to FITA if they so wish. FITA is also the designated body to support the development of new TRAs.

Home Ownership
Home Ownership is the part of Islington housing services that deals with matters of concern to leaseholders who have purchased former council properties from Islington Council. Home ownership services also deals with right to buy for existing Islington Council tenants who are interested in buying their council home.
