Respect ASB Charter for housing (pdf file 277Kb)

The Charter was drawn up by housing professionals in consultation with social housing residents across the country. Commitment to the Charter is voluntary and Homes for Islington signed up to work towards the commitments set out in the Charter on 14 July 2011.

By signing up to the Charter Homes for Islington is making public its commitment to continue to provide high quality services to support residents suffering from anti-social behaviour and tackle ASB perpetrators and to be accountable to residents for our deliver of these services.

The Charter sets out seven core commitments:

1. Demonstrating leadership and strategic commitment.
2. Providing an accessible and accountable service.
3. Taking swift action to protect communities.
4. Adopting a supportive approach to working with victims and witnesses.
5. Encouraging individual and community responsibility.
6. Having a clear focus on prevention and early intervention.
7. Ensuring a value for money approach is embedded in the service.

Each of these commitments has a set of building blocks that provide good practice examples that can be used to demonstrate the achievement of each commitment.

Homes for Islington will use the Charter as a framework to help it continually seek ways to improve its ASB services and it will use the Charter’s commitments set out above to self-assess its performance in relation to the commitments andidentifying areas where improvements can be made to its ASB services.
